Padrón has been designated a Magical Town of Galicia, a recognition that reinforces its position as a leading cultural and heritage destination. The municipality achieved broad citizen support in the voting process, becoming the most supported municipality at the regional level and concentrating nearly half of the votes cast in Galicia.
This recognition is part of an initiative promoted by the Spanish Network of Magical Towns and the Institute for Local Development and Social Studies (IDL), which highlights municipalities committed to heritage protection, the promotion of local culture, and the sustainable development of the territory.
The Padrón Town Council has emphasized the key role of community involvement in achieving this distinction. Neighbors, associations, educational centers, professional groups and people from different parts of Galicia actively participated in promoting the candidacy, as well as collaborating entities that showed their support throughout the process.
This new recognition consolidates Padrón’s presence within the Network of Magical Towns, to which the municipality has belonged since becoming the first town in the province of A Coruña to be included in this tourism and cultural distinction. For the Town Council, the title represents a strategic tool to continue advancing the promotion of historical heritage, culture, and a model of tourism that respects the environment.
