The main programme of this event promoted by the Compostela Hotel and Catering Association will be held from 22 to 24 March, but the activities already began on the 18th with the wine routes in which 36 establishments in the Galician capital are taking part.
Santiago de Compostela becomes the Galician capital of wine culture for a few days with the celebration of the first Galician Wine Meeting Revera Vinum, an event promoted by the Compostela Hotel and Catering Association and Escenoset with the collaboration of the Xunta de Galicia, the Galician Food Quality Agency and the City Council of Santiago, which will bring together more than 180 wineries and renowned specialists in the field for three days. The main programme of activities will take place between Tuesday 22nd and Thursday 24th at the Hotel Monumento San Francisco. The exhibition area will be set up there, where all the Galician designations of origin and protected geographical indications will be present, as well as a Wine Tunnel where visitors will be able to see more than 300 references.
Toni Gerez, Rafael Palacios, Eva Pizarro and Juanjo Figueroa are some of the renowned sommeliers and winemakers on the extensive list of speakers who will take part in the numerous round table discussions and tastings included in the programme. The good reception of this section of activities has meant that places for some of these events have already sold out, but there are still many activities available.
Tickets and three-day passes to participate in this first Revera Vinum Galician Wine Encounter are already on sale through the event’s website, at the headquarters of Hostelería Compostela and in some collaborating establishments.
Moreover, the proposals prepared by the organisers go beyond the limits of the Hotel Monumento San Francisco and the dates mentioned above. The Revera Vinum Compostela Wine Routes began on Friday 18th and will continue until Sunday 27th with the participation of 36 bars and restaurants divided into five different itineraries: San Lázaro Route, Historic City Route, San Pedro-Plaza de Abastos Route, San Clemente-Franco Route, Ensanche Route and Santa Marta Route. Customers will receive cards which they can stamp when they consume wines with a Galician Protected Designation of Origin or Protected Geographical Indication and thus be eligible for various prizes.
The programme also includes two tasting evenings with musical pairings: in the Sala Riquela (23rd) with the sommeliers Miguel Rodríguez and Guillermo Cruz and the music of Sabela King & The Heartbreakers, and in the Sala Sónar (26th) with the sommelier Martiño Santos and the band Hainas. Both events have been so well received that tickets were sold out in just 48 hours.
