The forecasts of the Galician tourism sector for this summer point to occupancy levels of 80%, which in some areas and on specific dates could approach 90%. These are data from the survey carried out by the Galicia Tourism Cluster this week, in which the sources consulted agree that the majority of tourists continue to be of national origin, although they highlight the increase in international travelers, especially Americans, in most of the territory. and linked to the Camino de Santiago.

 

In rural tourism, very positive occupancy figures are also expected, especially for the month of August, when some establishments will be able to hang their sign completely.

 

Prices

 

Regarding prices, for the month of July, 5-star hotels are the ones that register the highest figures, reaching 280 euros; 4-star hotels reach maximum prices of 140 euros per night, while one-star hotels are close to 80 euros.

 

In pensions, the average costs per night are reduced to between 55 and 70 euros, for 1 and 2 stars. In campsites, the average cost per night in first category campsites is around 60 euros and in second category campsites it varies between 130 and 270 euros. In the case of hostels, depending on the category, prices range from 25 to 75 euros.

 

Forecasts by area

 

Regarding the forecast by area, in the city of A Coruña, hotels estimate that occupancy will reach 88% in the month of July, a figure that could increase to 92% in August. The national market continues to be the majority in the Herculean city, where it represents around 80% of travelers.

 

On the Costa da Morte, the sources consulted expect occupancy levels of up to 95% on specific dates. Furthermore, they highlight the growth of international tourists, especially Americans, which can reach around 40%.

 

In Santiago de Compostela they predict a good season with occupancy that, according to forecasts, will be around 80%. They point out that summer 2024 will record figures similar to those of the previous year, although better performance is detected in the first half of July, in which historically lower occupancy figures are recorded. In the Galician capital, there is also an increase in international tourism, especially from the American and Italian markets.

 

In Ferrol and the region, the forecasts are also optimistic, with occupancy of around 85%. In this territory the main market is the national one, with a very important weight of the English Way and surf tourism.

 

In the province of Pontevedra they place the occupancy percentage at around 82%. The sources consulted highlight the increase in international travelers linked to the Camino de Santiago, with a growing number of Central European pilgrims. In Sanxenxo they are detecting a good rate of reservations, with a very positive occupancy forecast for the summer months, especially August.

 

In the province of Ourense, occupancy could reach 85%, thanks to tourists interested in touring Galicia and discovering the benefits of the interior (such as fresh and thermal waters or oenology).

 

The first forecasts in the province of Lugo point to 65% occupancy for the month of July and 75% for August. These data are expected to increase in the coming weeks, especially on dates such as July 25. In this area, the progressive growth of international travelers also stands out, especially from Portugal, Italy, the United Kingdom, Ireland and France.

 

In the Ribeira Sacra, forecasts point to occupancy rates of 80% and they expect that the French Way and the growing demand for the Winter Way will favor reservations in the area, where it is estimated that the majority of tourists are of national origin.
