The’ Tasting Notes’ inaugurate the annual programme of the Ruta do Viño Rías Baixas with wine tasting, preserves and music

The sessions start on March 16 in Pontevedra and will reach Porto in a schedule that this year includes training activities

The Ruta do Viño Rías Baixas, included in the Club de Producto de las Rutas del Vino de España (Product Club of the Wine Routes of Spain), will premiere its annual programme of activities with an important novelty: Wine tastings of the DO. Rías Baixas of associated wineries harmonized with musical performances and Galician preserves provided by the Association ANFACO-CECOPESCA. The first of these is held on 16 March in Pontevedra, at a cost of 8 euros, and then the initiative will continue in A Coruña (13 April), Santiago de Compostela (20 April) and Vigo (27 April). The initiative will conclude in Porto, where the last of these sessions will be held with wine tasting, live music and gourmet products.
We wanted to go one step further in the Tasting among Friends by bringing together wine, gastronomy and music, since its harmonization seems to us to be the most appropriate,”explains Lorena Varela, manager of the non-profit association. Thus, the Tasting Notes will combine the comments on the different creations presented, which will be performed by sommelier José Aragunde, with live music and acoustic music of a violin and cello duet. Each of the wines tasted will be accompanied by a song and, at the end of the tasting, there will be a tasting of canned fish and seafood from ANFACO-CECOPESCA, along with a small concert. The rhythms will vary from the interpretation of soundtracks from cinema to classical music, from jazz to pop. Except for Pontevedra, the rest of the tastings will be held in El Corte Inglés shopping centres.
News for the Open Days
The Ruta do Viño Rías Baixas will also propose differentiated proposals for the Open Days of the Galician Wine Routes, which will be held in May. In addition to the traditional Buses do Viño, there will be activities where music and magic will take on a special role. To commemorate the European Wine Tourism Day, a renewed version of the already consolidated Amateur Tasting will be offered. Likewise, we will continue our commitment to harmonize wine tourism and sport with the third edition of the BTT Ruta do Viño Rías Baixas. It is expected to be held next October.
Another novelty of this year’s program will be travel for prescribers. In the words of Lorena Varela,”our aim is that professionals in the sector know first-hand the project of the Ruta do Viño Rías Baixas and its wide and varied range of food and wine”. Among the professionals who will travel this enotourist itinerary in the coming months are from heads of tourism offices to official guides of the Xunta de Galicia, including hotel receptionists or travel agencies in the autonomous community.
In short, a wide variety of proposals with which the Rías Baixas Wine Route hopes to continue to build the loyalty of wine lovers and add new visitors to this enotourist itinerary.
