The Provincial Council of Pontevedra is a member of the Executive Committee of a organization that has been joined by four other Galician institutions.
The last meeting of the Plenary Committee of the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations has certified the increase of Galician representation in this organisation launched by the Secretary of State for Tourism three years ago to promote a new tourism management model based on intelligence, digitisation and sustainability.
Among the 24 new members whose adhesion to the STD Network has just been approved are the Mariñas-Betanzos Rural Development Association, the Ribeira Sacra Tourism Consortium, the Ulla Tambre Mandeo Rural Development Groupand the Ferrol Joint Tourism Society.
In addition, the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, one of the founding entities of this network, becomes the only provincial entity that is part of the Executive Committee, which is composed of a total of 16 entities and is responsible for representing the more than 500 destinations that are already integrated into the network.
At the same meeting in which these agreements were adopted, the launch of the network’s new website was announced and a review was made of the activity carried out during the first half of this year, which has included the implementation of several courses and the development of manuals and guides.
A total of 543 entities currently form part of the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations. 370 of these members are destinations of different types and areas, 91 are collaborating companies, 79 are institutional members and 3 are international observers.
