  • The organization prioritizes the modernization of the sector, the improvement of energy efficiency and the promotion of the Camiño de Santiago.

In 2026, the Xunta de Galicia will allocate more than 125 million euros to consolidate the sustained growth of Galician tourism and to prepare the next Xacobeo 2027, one of the two great cultural and economic goals of the decade. This is how the director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Manuel Merelles, advanced during his appearance in the Parliament of Galicia, where he detailed the main lines of action of his department for the next year.

Among the main priorities are the training and digitalization of the sector, the reinforcement of the accommodation capacity of the community and the renewal of tourist infrastructure, especially in rural councils on the Jacobean routes.

  • Modernization, efficiency and training

In the business sphere, the plan includes a funding line of 4 million euros aimed at promoting new housing projects, especially in rural areas, with the objective of diversifying the offer and exerting the socioeconomic background. Subsidies aimed at energy efficiency and modernization of accommodation and restaurants will also be maintained, with a provision of 7 million euros.

The director of Tourism highlighted, in addition, the investment in training and professionalization, with the launch of the GastroHub of the Higher Hospitality Center of Galicia, a new space aimed at practical training in the sector.

  • Promotion of the Camiño de Santiago and the Xacobeo 2027

The Camiño de Santiago will continue to be a major investment area for 2026. Turismo de Galicia plans to tender new contracts for comprehensive maintenance and conservation of the routes, as well as advance the Road Safety Plan, which will allow the execution of works aimed at improving the safety of pilgrims and avoiding sections of shared circulation with vehicles.

Likewise, a new line of aid will be launched for the landscape embellishment of the Camiño, in parallel with a special promotion plan for Xacobeo 2027, endowed with 3 million euros, which will boost cultural, sports and tourist programming prior to the Holy Year.
