The Xunta de Galicia extends the application period for aid to thermal establishments until August 18

The Xunta de Galicia announced last week the extension of the application period for aid aimed at promoting thermal tourism in the region. Individuals and entities interested in opening or renovating spa-related establishments or thalassotherapy centers may submit their applications until August 18, 2025, one month later than the originally planned date.

  • The total investment is close to €8 million

This line of support is part of the Galicia Thermal Tourism Plan and includes a total allocation of close to €8 million, divided between two independent calls. Both operate under a non-competitive bidding system.

The first call for proposals, with an investment of €1.7 million, is focused on promoting new spa-related tourism establishments, including both sustainable construction and renovation projects and the incorporation of renewable energy and circular economy systems.

The second call for proposals, with a budget of more than €6 million, is aimed at improving the existing offering of spa hotels and thalassotherapy hotels already in operation. This line of action includes three lines of action: renovation or renovation of the property, improving energy efficiency and sustainability, and promoting spa culture through communication and outreach activities.

  • Eligible expenses may be incurred until June 2026

The selected projects will have a deadline of June 30, 2026, to execute and justify their eligible expenses.

This extension aims to facilitate the participation of as many stakeholders as possible in the sector, thus encouraging further transformation and modernization of Galicia’s thermal spa offering, with a sustainable, competitive approach aligned with health and wellness tourism.
