‘La Vuelta’ will leave a positive impact this summer in Galicia

  • The Galician community will host 4 tests of the cycling competition.

Last Wednesday, August 7, the presentation of the stages of ‘La Vuelta’ that will run through Galicia took place, in an event that included the participation of the director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Merelles, the general secretary for Sport, José Ramón Lete, the mayor of Ponteareas, Nava Castro, the president of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, Luis López, and the general director of ‘La Vuelta’, Javier Guillén.

 

The celebration of several stages of cycling ‘La Vuelta’ in Galicia this summer is expected to generate a considerable tourist impact in the region, highlighting the importance of the event to promote Galicia as a tourist destination in Spain and internationally. The competition route, which will pass through various emblematic points of the community, will contribute to increasing the visibility of the Galician cultural, landscape and gastronomic offer.

 

The economic impact expected thanks to ‘La Vuelta’ is important: the event will attract tourists, the media and cycling fans, thus boosting the hospitality sector and other local services. Media coverage of the event will not only showcase the charms of Galicia to a global audience, but will also attract a significant flow of visitors who will follow the competition live.

 

This year, the cycling race will include a total of four stages in Galician territory. Ponteareas will begin stage 10 of ‘La Vuelta’ on August 27, marking the third time that this Pontevedra town serves as a starting point. The day will conclude in Baiona, a town that has already been the scene of two previous arrivals in the competition. The second stage in Galicia will take place on August 28, with departure and arrival at the Cortizo de Padrón Technological Campus. On August 29, the race will depart from the city of Ourense, crossing part of the Ribeira Sacra before facing the final climb to the Manzaneda Mountain Station. Galicia will say goodbye to the event with a last mountain stage that will begin in Lugo and culminate in Puerto de Ancares on August 30.
