Galicia’s Green Week attracts around 81,000 visitors in its biggest edition in 17 years

  • The event took place over four days, combining business and leisure both in the exhibition area and in the program of activities.

The international fair Abanca Semana Verde de Galicia concluded its last edition with success, recording the attendance of 80,860 visitors, the highest figure in the last 17 years. The fair kicked off with an opening attended by Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela, president of the Xunta de Galicia, and in which the vice-president of the Tourism Cluster of Galicia, Jesús Picallo Santos, was also present.

The first two days, dedicated to professionals, saw a notable increase compared to previous years. The influx of the general public was lower during the weekend due to competition from other events and festivities, as well as the favorable weather conditions that invited outdoor activities.

The event had 746 exhibiting companies from six countries, setting a record in the food and tourism halls. Exhibitors positively assessed the fair, highlighting both the high attendance at the stands and the excellent results at the business tables.

The international fair stood out for its diversity, with more than 200 activities over four days. The Salimat Abanca salon brought together 150 companies and 33 importers from 19 countries in its International Buyers Meetings, facilitating more than 1,300 meetings. Turexpo Galicia and Festur, held with the support of Turismo de Galicia, stood out with the promotion of more than 50 Galician festivals of tourist interest and the participation of 41 municipalities and geodestinas. The Galician Tourism Cluster participated in the event with its own stand in the space of the Galician Tourism Agency.. The Tourism Recruitment Fair attracted 33 tour operators from 11 countries, and the 7th Tourism Bloggers Meeting also took place.

In addition, the fair included a variety of fun proposals such as canine and equestrian activities, an exhibition of animatronic dinosaurs, the IX Popular Race, the V Chess Open, and multi-adventure activities. The 2024 edition reaffirms Abanca Semana Verde as a key event for the sector, combining business and leisure in a diverse and dynamic environment.
