The Secretary of State for Tourism has just published the Smart Tourist Destinations Manual, published in English by the Springer publishing house under the title “The Spanish Model fuere Smart Tourism Destination Management: The Methodological Approach”.
The main objective of the manual, which will also be published in Spanish in the future, is to give international visibility to the DTI model and to the talent and work of Spain in terms of innovation and digitalization. This publication highlights how the DTI methodology exemplifies the realization of a work philosophy linked to cooperation.
The publication was presented at the beginning of February by Rosana Morillo, the Secretary of State for Tourism, in an event that included the participation of the executive director of the UNWTO, Natalia Bayona; the president of SEGITTUR, Enrique Martínez, the director of R&D&i, Carlos Romero, and destination representatives.
Smart Tourist Destinations Manual
The document is structured in three blocks. The first focuses on current trends affecting the tourism sector, highlighting the challenges they represent for destination management, and the responses that an Intelligent Destination Management Model should be able to offer.
The second block details the methodological foundations of the Spanish model for intelligent destination management: objectives, structure, strategic axes, areas of action, requirements to be met by areas, and monitoring indicators.
The third block is described as a set of tools for the adaptation and application of the model in various contexts: good practices, lessons learned, operation of the DTI Network, etc.
