The end of the health emergency situation in force since March last year will also allow opening hours to be extended.
The good evolution of the epidemiological situation caused by covid in Galicia and the wide development of the vaccination campaign have led the Xunta to put an end to the sanitary emergency situation that had been in force since March last year. This decision will have direct and immediate consequences for the hotel and catering and nightlife sector, as well as for many other activities related to tourism, which will see how they can recover 100% of the capacity both indoors and outdoors in the case of all those activities that depend on the autonomous region.
The end of the health emergency will also mean longer opening hours for bars, cafés and restaurants (until 1am from Sunday to Thursday, and until 1.30am on Friday and Saturday), pubs (until 4am from Sunday to Thursday, and until 4.30am on Friday and Saturday) and discotheques and nightclubs (until 5am every day). In the case of nightlife and hostels, the requirement for a vaccination certificate to minimise the risk of contagion will be maintained will remain in force. It will also continue to be compulsory to wear a mask in enclosed spaces and also outdoors when the safety distance of one and a half metres cannot be maintained.
The decision was agreed this week by the Council of the Xunta after consulting the experts of the clinical committee formed to deal with the pandemic and after the meetings that the Vice-president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, and the Regional Health Minister, Julio Comesaña, held this week with representatives of the hotel and catering and nightlife to know their demands regarding the capacity and opening hours.
