The Festa da Filloa de Lestedo has just been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. A celebration that highlights a gastronomic product with great roots and that combines with other cultural proposals such as the Carnival of the Generales del Ulla. The Secretary of State for Tourism highlighted the importance of this festival for its contribution to the diversification and decentralization of tourism, generating benefits for both the territory and its residents. Since 2008, Lestedo has also been a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest.
This celebration was born as a result of the interest of the residents of this parish in highlighting a gastronomic product with deep roots. Organized since 2015 by the Lestedo Filloa Cultural Association, this popular festival celebrated its 40th anniversary this year.
The Festa da Filloa de Lestedo obtained the declaration as a Festival of National Tourist Interest (FITN) after completing an exhaustive technical report that confirms compliance with all the requirements established by the Secretary of State for Tourism. This includes the unanimous support of the Municipal Corporation for the FITN declaration, as well as a favorable report issued by the Galicia Tourism Agency in support of his candidacy.
In addition, the technical report of the Filloa Cultural Association, in collaboration with the City Council, examines various aspects of the celebration, which began in 1984. It delves into its origin, its cultural roots and the active participation of the community in its development. It also details the collaborations established with various entities, both local and supra-municipal, as well as other types, that contributed to enriching the celebration and expanding its programming.
With the Festa da Filloa de Lestedo there are now 10 Galician festivities that have been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest: the Pilgrimage of Nosa Señora da Barca (Muxía), the Carrilanas de Esteiro (Muros), the San Froilán festivities (Lugo), the Bonito Fair (Burela), the History Festival (Ribadavia), the Verín Carnival. Also the O Grove Seafood Festival, the San Roque Festival (Vilagarcía de Arousa) and the Reconquista Festival (Vigo).).
