APEHL celebrated its 40th anniversary

The Provincial Association of Hotel and Tourism Businessmen of Lugo (APEHL) celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2017 and celebrated it in a ceremony at the Sanxiallao High School, attended by a large number of authorities and representatives of the sector such as the president and secretary of the Galician Tourism Cluster, Francisco González y Cesáreo Pardal, the mayoress of Lugo, Lara Méndez; the president of the Provincial Council of Lugo.
In addition to commemorating this special date, the event also served as a tribute to several founding members for their contribution and dedication in the creation of the Association: Alberto García, from the Mesón de Alberto in Lugo; José Luis Loureiro, hotelier from Sarria and president of the APEHL from 1983 to 1986, and Ángel López-Leitón, from the Hotel Leytón in Foz. Santiago Argüeso, also received one of the gifts for his collaboration in the constitution process and being fundamental support for the first president, Manuel González-Granjero.
The president of the APEHL, Cheché Real, highlighted during the event the importance of associationism for the sector and the association’s commitment to training:”Precisely, we celebrate this anniversary here at the Sanxillao High School, where our next generations are learning and training. In its day, from APEHL we bet that a cycle of hotel management was implemented in the city of Lugo and we believe it was one of our great achievements,”he added.
Darío Campos, who praised the work done by the Association and the mayoress of Lugo, added that “thanks to the work of groups such as this one, great dynamizers of our territory both economically and socially, we were able to put Lugo on the map. Many people come to Lugo because of our gastronomy”.
The event ended with the projection of a video showing Proud to be hoteliers and with a tasting of products of the designations of origin and protected geographical indications of the province of Lugo, prepared by the students of the Sanxillao High School.
