Galicia has a summer of great music festivals ahead

  • The Son do Camiño, held from June 15 to 17, brought together more than 130,000 people.
  • Resurrection Fest, Ortigueira Festival, Morriña Fest or Gozo Festival are some of the must-see summer events.

Summer arrives and, like every year, it is accompanied by great musical events. The Son do Camiño was the first: from June 15 to 17, Monte del Gozo gathered more than 134,000 attendees in the fourth edition, becoming the most successful of the festival to date . From the organization of the event, they indicate that the economic impact of the festival reached 20 million euros, reaching 100% of hotel occupancy in Santiago and its surroundings.

In the coming months, the Galician community will host more than twenty major music festivals, events that will be one of the cultural and economic engines of the Galician summer. Next up will be the acclaimed Resurrection Fest, king of metal, hardcore and punk. In 2022 it brought together 145,000 people, becoming the seventh festival with the most spectators in Spain. The Viveiro festival, which is already celebrating its 18th edition, will start on June 28 with nearly 100 bands and audiences from 46 different countries. The organization estimates an economic impact of 17.5 million euros.

The Morriña Fest is another of the great summer dates. The port of A Coruña will host a poster with big names from the national and international scene on June 28 and 29. In the second edition, held last year at the Riazor, the event brought together more than 25,000 people, leaving the city’s hotels with an occupancy of more than 90%.

Santiago de Compostela will host another high-level event, the Gozo Festival. On July 8, Monte de Gozo will bring together four great names of different musical styles for the taste of all audiences: Robbie Williams, Martin Garrix, Hombres H and Iván Ferreiro.

The Ortigueira Festival, declared of International Tourist Interest, will be held from July 9 to 16. More than 15 bands and groups from the Celtic world will participate in the event, which has been held since 1978.

Other major events that will be held in Galicia throughout the summer season are the Atlantic Pride, which will be held from July 2 to 9 in A Coruña; PortAmérica, from July 13 to 15 in Caldas de Reis; the Atlantic Fest, from July 21 to 23 in Vilagarcía de Arousa; the 17th Ribeira Sacra, from July 28 to 30; the Reggaeton Beach Festival, from August 12 to 13 in Nigrán; the Festival of Light, from August 26 to 27 in Boimorto; or the Caudal Fest, from September 15 to 16 in Lugo.
