The Galician hostel sector experienced a positive month of April, with a growth of 10.7% in the period compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). In total, 746,441 stays were registered in community hostels, a figure that reflects the tourist pull of Galicia during Easter, which this year coincided with the month of April.
By province, A Coruña led the number of visitors with 321,819, followed by Pontevedra (245,495), Lugo (121,728) and Ourense (57,398). Regarding the origin of the two visitors, the majority came from other parts of Spain (495,458), adding that international tourism also had a notable presence, with 250,983 visitors.
The increase was also noticeable in the number of travelers: 438,624 people stayed in Galician hotels during April, representing an 8.9% increase compared to the same month last year.
This buoyant demand was also reflected in price performance. The Hotel Price Index in Galicia rose 9.45%, above the national average of 6.88%. This figure points to greater profitability for the sector, maintaining Galicia as a competitive but increasingly valued destination.
These results consolidate the positive momentum of Galician tourism at the start of the high season and reinforce its role in the regional economy. With summer just around the corner, April’s performance offers good prospects for the coming months.
