Galicia promotes tourism deseasonalization with an increase in travelers in November

  • The hotels in Galicia registered 299,163 travelers and 561,267 overnight stays during that month.

Galician tourism continues to demonstrate its strength and ability to adapt, consolidating the trend of deseasonalization thanks to a notable increase in the influx of visitors in November. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), hotels in Galicia registered 299,163 travelers and 561,267 overnight stays during the month, figures that represent year-on-year increases of 10.8% and 11.2%, respectively.

This positive evolution reflects the effectiveness of strategies aimed at distributing tourist demand beyond the high season. Total income from the hotel sector reached 22.7 million euros in November, which represents an increase of 10.5% compared to the same month of the previous year and exceeding the levels recorded before the pandemic.

The national market continues to be the main driver of Galician tourism, representing 79% of total travelers. Within this segment, residents in other autonomous communities, such as Madrid (12.9%), Castilla y León (5.7%) and Andalusia (5.1%), stand out as the main emitters.

On the other hand, international tourism also saw significant growth in November, with a 22% increase in demand. With more than 120,000 nights registered, a new historical record was reached for this month. Particularly noteworthy are the increases in visitors from Portugal, with 45.6% more, and the United States, which grew by 23%.

Annual balance

In the first eleven months of 2024, the Galician hotel sector achieved accumulated revenues of more than 413 million euros, 7.1% more than in the same period of the previous year. These figures not only consolidate the recovery of the sector, but also mark a historical record, surpassing the results prior to the pandemic.

With these figures, Galicia is positioned as a solid and versatile destination, capable of attracting travelers throughout the year, strengthening its economy and diversifying opportunities for tourism companies and local communities.
