Galicia’s presence at FITUR 2025 has left a significant mark, consolidating itself as a reference destination for those seeking authentic and sustainable experiences. Under the motto “Galicia, welcoming land”, the Galician exhibitor attracted thousands of visitors, both professionals and the general public, who showed notable interest in its wide tourist offer.

 

The president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, spoke at the Galicia stand during the opening day to highlight hospitality as one of the key values ​​of tourism in the community. During his speech, he highlighted that around 90% of Galicians value the impact of tourism in the region positively or very positively. In addition, he highlighted the role of the sector in the Galician economy, which represents 13% of GDP and generates 130,000 jobs.

 

Rueda pointed out the growth of international tourism, which already represents 31% of travelers and 58% of pilgrims, as well as the deseasonalization of tourist flows, with 60% of demand outside the high season.

 

A tourist proposal well received by the public and the professional sector

 

During the open days, the Galician exhibitor at FITUR 2025 was one of the busiest, breaking records for visits and participation. The Ribeira Sacra, with its candidacy for UNESCO World Heritage status, aroused special interest, as did other proposals such as the Costa da Morte, the Mariña Lucense and the thermal routes.

 

The Camino de Santiago, the central axis of Galician tourism, received numerous queries, especially about the different routes and logistical issues. Likewise, wine tourism stood out as one of the most attractive offers, with great interest in the wine routes and the winemaking tradition of the region.

 

The profile of the visitors who made the most inquiries was varied, with senior tourists and families standing out especially. In addition, the professional sector positively valued the 50 presentations made during the event, which addressed innovative tourism products focused on landscape, gastronomy, culture and heritage.

 

Commitment to sustainability and hospitality

 

Galicia presented a stand of more than 1,000 square meters at FITUR 2025, reusing the award-winning facilities in the previous edition, as a sign of its commitment to sustainability. This space served as a meeting point for professionals in the sector and as a showcase for the community’s most notable initiatives.

 

FITUR 2025 closes its doors with record numbers, with 155,000 professionals and close to 100,000 general visitors. In this context, Galicia reaffirms its position as a top-level tourist destination, betting on a model that combines hospitality, sustainability and the valorization of its natural and cultural resources.
