Rural tourism and thermalism boosted the sector during the All Saints’ Day long weekend

The tourist voucher launched by the Cluster and the Xunta allowed to inject 300,000 euros in the sector during this period.

The good prospects with which the Galician tourism sector faced the past All Saints’ long weekend were confirmed and the influx of visitors allowed the establishments to be close to, and in some cases achieve, a full house. The president of the Galician Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, had already advanced it in the previous days, when he pointed out that an occupancy rate of between 85 and 95% was expected. And this has been confirmed this week, after the long weekend, by the first vice-president of the Xunta and Regional Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Tourism, Alfonso Rueda. He explained that, despite the rain, the average occupancy rate over the long weekend was between 85 and 90 %, and that in some specific areas of the region it even reached 100 %.

Alfonso Rueda explained that both rural tourism and thermalism played a special role in achieving these good figures, and he advocated continuing to promote both sectors outside the high season. He also stressed that Galicia is a very popular tourist destination, as shown by the data reflecting the recovery of the sector after the pandemic.

The tourist voucher launched by the Xunta and the Cluster under the slogan #QuedamosEnGalicia has also played an important role in the good results of the sector during the last long weekend. Between Friday 29 October and Monday 1 November, a total of 1,400 operations were carried out with this voucher, which meant an economic injection of 300,000 euros in the sector. Since June there have already been 14,417 operations carried out and 2,891,483 euros mobilised. The Xunta’s forecast is that by the end of this year the money injected into the sector thanks to this initiative will be around 7.8 million euros.

In parallel to the #QuedamosEnGalicia campaign, the #EligeGalicia programme has also been developed, aimed at under 30s, families and the over 55s, who have been able to benefit from an offer of more than 4,300 places in the four Galician provinces. In this case, the economic injection that the tourism sector has received so far this year exceeds one million euros.
