Active tourism in Galicia, a bet to combat Seasonal Affective Disorder

  • AGETAN, the Galician Association of Active Tourism Companies, promotes active tourism in Galicia to improve mental and physical health

AGETAN seeks to help the population combat SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), a type of depression that usually appears in the fall and winter seasons, associated with the reduction of natural light.

Through their associated companies, they offer experiences based on contact with nature and physical exercise. This association offers a wide range of active tourism activities, such as:

  • Rafting in Galician rivers.
  • Diving on the Atlantic coast.
  • Canyoning in the Sierra de O Courel and Ancares.
  • Bicycle and hiking routes.
  • Paddle surfing in rivers and estuaries.

Its objective is to position our community as a reference in active outdoor tourism.

To do this, they offer proposals for safe, regulated, accessible and environmentally friendly active tourism. And to achieve this, they collaborate with certified companies that guarantee compliance with quality and safety standards that contribute to the well-being of the participants.
