The Galician tourism sector increased its profitability by 8.6% during the month of September

  • Galicia grew above average, registering a 4% increase in overnight stays.

Tourism in Galicia closed a successful month of September, with a 5.9% increase in the number of travelers and a 4.2% increase in overnight stays compared to 2023. This growth places Galicia at historical levels, reaching a maximum in the historical series of overnight stays, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The good performance of Galician hotels was not only limited to occupancy, it was reflected in a notable increase in profitability, which registered an increase of 8.6%. Income in the sector reached 51.6 million euros, which represents an increase of 7.8% compared to last year.

In the national context, Galicia stands out by surpassing the state average for growth in occupancy and hotel nights, ranking as the second community with the highest rate of increase in tourists in September. This impulse responds, to a large extent, to growing international interest, which has accumulated four consecutive years of growth in September.

So far this year, from January to September, it is estimated that the hotel sector has obtained total income close to €350M, exceeding the 2023 records by 7.2%, and those prior to the pandemic.
