O Carballiño will host the official presentation of “Polbo con Orixe” this Thursday, November 20th. This new food and wine tourism product club seeks to promote octopus as a symbol of local identity and a driver of local development. The Casa da Cultura (Cultural Center) will be the venue for a technical conference that will bring together institutional representatives, gastronomy professionals, and tourism sector stakeholders.
The event will begin at 9:45 a.m. with the opening remarks by the Mayor of Carballiño, Francisco Fumega; the Head of the Provincial Tourism Area of Galicia in Ourense, Cecilio Santalices; the Government Delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco; and Member of Parliament Rosendo Fernández. Next, the technical team will present the foundations and objectives of the new product club, conceived as a tool for territorial cohesion and for enhancing the gastronomic heritage of octopus.
The program includes a presentation by food and wine expert Carlos Martins, who will discuss how cuisine and local products are integrated as a central element in contemporary tourist experiences.
After a coffee break, one of the day’s highlights will begin: “Product Clubs as a Key Element in Gastronomic Tourism,” moderated by journalist Alberto Alonso. Participants will include Óscar Checa, Head of Communications for ACEVIN – Wine Routes of Spain; Cesáreo Pardal, President of the Galicia Tourism Cluster; and Eva Gil, Head of the Galicia Southwest Product Club.
The final panel of the day, moderated by Adolfo Neira (a member of the Cluster’s technical secretariat), will focus on the role of local councils as key players in promoting local gastronomy. The mayors of O Carballiño and Lalín, Francisco Fumega and José Crespo, will participate, as well as the vice president of the A Coruña Provincial Council, Xosé Regueira. The closing session is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
