The Tourism Cluster and the Xunta launch the Xacobeo Xove program with discounts of 200 euros to bring the Camino closer to youth

  • The initiative is intended for active users of the Xove Card between 18 and 30 years of age.
  • They will be able to acquire experiences linked to the different Jacobean Routes offered by the Galician travel agencies attached to the program.

Last Saturday, June 24, Oroso hosted the presentation of the Xacobeo Xove program, an initiative of the Galician Tourism Agency in collaboration with the Galician Tourism Cluster, the Galician Travel Association (AGAVI), the Association of Receptive Tour Operators of Galicia (ATREGA), the Provincial Association of Travel Agencies of Pontevedra (AVIPO), and the Ministry of Social Policy and Youth. The program seeks to promote the experience of the Camino de Santiago among youth through a discount of 200 euros that can be used in different activities and services along any of the Jacobean Routes.

 

The event was attended by the president of the Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal; the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda; the mayor of the Oroso City Council, Álex Doval; the Minister of Social Policy and Youth, Fabiola García; and the territorial delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in A Coruña, Gonzalo Trenor.

 

The president of the CTG highlighted that “the Xacobeo Xove program was born with the vocation of bringing the youngest one of those unforgettable experiences that is the Camino de Santiago. Ten routes and a range of possibilities to immerse yourself in nature, imbue yourself with local culture and tradition, get to know the architectural heritage, enjoy gastronomy and meet people from anywhere in the world.”

 

Youth

 

Young people between the ages of 18 and 30 who have an active Xove Card (that is, they must have the identification number of the card, Eyca number) will be eligible for this discount. Each beneficiary will be able to enjoy a single discount, which will be linked to the Xove Card number, and the requests will be dealt with in order of purchase until budgetary availability is exhausted.

 

The minimum cost will be 300 euros in any of the experiences offered by the companies adhering to the initiative or in the personalized itinerary they choose. The experience must be acquired through the Galician travel agencies that are registered in the program.

 

The trips can be made between July 1 and December 10, 2023, as long as the purchase of the tourist package is made before November 30, 2023.

 

Travel agencies

 

With the aim of reinforcing the role of tourism intermediation with youth, the initiative will be articulated through Galician retail travel agencies registered in the Register of Transport Companies and Activities (REAT). These will be in charge of marketing the Camino experience to youth.

 

Agencies interested in participating in the program must request their registration through the form provided on the official website of the Xacobeo Xove program.
