The Tourism Cluster presents the ‘Galicia Sustainable Destination’ initiative to the companies that make up the Rías Baixas Wine Route

  • The Product Club facilitates the attraction of tourists, increases the visibility of associates and improves their positioning, making them more competitive.
  • The platform, promoted by the Cluster and Board with the aim of integrating the sustainable tourism offer of Galicia, has more than 90 member companies and 140 experiences.

The Galicia Tourism Cluster today presented the ‘Galicia Sustainable Destination’ initiative to the companies that make up the Rías Baixas Wine Route. This product club, promoted by the Cluster and the Xunta de Galicia as a hub to integrate the entire sustainable tourism offer of the Community, has more than 90 companies participating and integrates 140 experiences on its website.

 

The president of the Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, along with other members of the entity, presented this morning at the headquarters of the D.O. Rías Baixas the advantages of joining Galicia Sustainable Destination. The product club offers companies a channel to attract interested tourists and sustainable tourist activities; increases its visibility, thanks to the promotion and dissemination of its offer at a national level; reinforces its credibility, having the endorsement of the club for the attributes of quality and sustainability; It has the institutional support of the Xunta and facilitates access to public financing and technical training in sustainability; and facilitates the search for alliances and strategic partners to develop new products.

 

 

Club action plan

 

The annual action plan of the product club covers different promotional and marketing activities. In 2023, a promotional campaign was developed in collaboration with Turespaña aimed at the US market; as well as familiarization and prescription trips with national and international media; and training and support activities for the S for Sustainability certification. In 2024, participation in different fairs and workshops is planned; A new cooperation campaign will be launched with Turespaña, and training and advice on certification will continue. In addition, we will seek to take advantage of synergies with other entities that provide added value to the club and work and listening groups will be created.

 

Accession

 

To join Galicia Sustainable Destination, companies must meet at least one qualifying requirement (sustainability certification; Fair’n Green; Green Star of the MICHELIN Guide; membership in the Slow Tourism North of Galicia project, or in the Ecotourism Product Club of Spain. or an environmental certification: ESO 14000, EMAS, etc.) or 100% of the mandatory ones and 33% of the evaluable ones.

 

Membership can be requested through the website galiciadestinostible.com. Once the advisory committee accepts the membership, the company will manage its offers from the portal and will enjoy the advantages of belonging to the product club for free.

 

Rías Baixas Wine Route

 

The Rías Baixas Wine Route has more than two decades of history and has a hundred members who offer a multitude of options to discover the world of wine. Visits to wineries, and tastings accompanied by complementary activities and unique environments that make up a quality wine tourism offer. The Rías Baixas Wine Route is the only Galician itinerary included in the select club of the Wine Routes of Spain and in the Guide to Wine Routes Accessible to All People, published by the State Representative Platform of People with Physical Disabilities (PREDIF).
