Galicia’s coordination of the tourism brand of the northern peninsula, ‘Green Spain’, begins

  • Strengthen the internationalization of member destinations and create synergies with ecotourism, the main commitments.

The director of the Galician Tourism Agency, Xosé Merelles, participated last week in the 1st Monitoring Commission of Green Spain in 2024, accompanied by representatives from Asturias, Euskadi and Cantabria. In 2024, Galicia leads the coordination of the tourism brand of the northern peninsula, with the commitment to strengthen internationalization and create synergies with ecotourism.

Galicia is committed to expanding the brand to more international destinations, strengthening both the brand and each destination individually. International promotion will be intensified, with actions planned in cities such as New York, London, Berlin, Vienna, Zurich, Milan, Rome and Paris, among others.

The possibility of creating synergies around ecotourism will also be opened, highlighting the Green Spain Ecotourism Corridor project, which is expected to be ready at the end of 2024 and will be financed by Next Generation funds. This ecotourism corridor will be the largest in Europe, crossing the main places of natural interest in Green Spain. During this year, tourism companies from each community are designing the products that will be part of this route, which will include protected natural spaces and activities such as wildlife observation, accommodation and active tourism.

In addition, Galicia also has plans to promote the Camino de Santiago as a differential element that unites the Communities of Green Spain.
