Q de Calidad

  • Galicia is the fifth Community with the most flags.
  • In total, 309 Spanish beaches and 27 nautical-sports facilities received this seal of quality for tourism.
  • Pontevedra received 16 distinctions; Lugo, 5; and A Coruña, 2.

 

The Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (CITE) presented this week the Q for Quality, S for Sustainability and Safe Tourism Certified Flags. The mayors of 106 municipalities in Spain that obtained one of the Flags awarded by the ICTE participated in the event.

 

Of the 309 quality seals distributed, Galician beaches received 23. Galicia is the fifth community with the most certifications, only behind Andalusia (with 133), the Valencian Community (with 54), the Region of Murcia (with 41) and Balearic Islands (with 24). The distribution is divided as follows: the province of Pontevedra accumulates the largest number of distinguished sandy areas, with 16; while Lugo has 5, and A Coruña, with 2.

 

On the one hand, the beaches in Pontevedra recognized by the ICTE with the Q Flag for Quality are: Area de Agra (Areas), Bascuas (Aios), A Lapa (Noalla), Areas (Areas-Sanxenxo), Areas Gordas (Noalla), Baltar (Portonovo), Canelas (Portonovo-Sanxenxo), Caneliñas (Portonovo), Foxos (Santo Estevo), Montalvo (Adina), Silgar (Sanxenxo), Paxariñas (Paxariñas) and Pragueira (Sanxenxo).

 

On the other hand, the sandy areas of Lugo that received the Q were A Rapadoira (Foz), Area (Viveiro), As Catedrais (Ribadeo), Covas (Viveiro) and Castros-Illas (Ribadeo). In the province of A Coruña, the two recognized beaches are in Miño: Grande beach and Ribeira beach.

 

In addition to this, a total of 64 Sustainability S Flags were also awarded, a seal created with the aim of guaranteeing compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the UN 2030 Agenda. Finally, 34 Spanish beaches also received the Safe Tourism Certified seal, a guarantee and certification mark for the implementation of the Health Risk Prevention System against Covid-19.
