The Galician Tourism Cluster participated last week in IMEX 2024. The event, which was held from May 14 to 16 in Frankfurt, was attended by Galicia MICE, with the participation of Diego Otero, member of the executive board of the Cluster, who met with various operators to whom he presented the MICE offer of the Community.
IMEX is a world reference event in which this year more than 4,000 buyers and 2,900 exhibitors participated. In addition to Galicia MICE at the Turespaña stand, A Coruña Tourism and Congress Consortium was also present, highlighting its strengths as a business tourism destination.
This edition of IMEX focused on the impact of tourism activity, with the mission of instilling in the MICE community the responsibility of being part of the solution to the major problems that challenge our planet.
MICE is one of the tourism segments that most contributes to alleviating the seasonality of tourism activity in destinations, generates value and growth, and maintains quality and stability in employment. According to INE figures, international conference tourists spent an average of 298 euros per day in 2023, compared to 184 euros for leisure tourists. Meetings, incentive, congress and exhibition tourism contributes to promoting high value-added tourism, which is essential for diversifying the tourism offer beyond the usual destinations.
