Xunta de Galicia approved the signing of an agreement between Tourism of Galicia and the Cathedral of Santiago by which the public entity will contribute 300,000 euros for the execution of various actions in order to improve the attention to the pilgrims of the Camino de Santiago . This amount represents 85% of the total budget with which this agreement is granted, thus strengthening the Galician Government’s commitment to the Xacobea Route as the main source of international tourist flows and Galicia Galicia’s global letter of presentation.
Only last year, a total of 278,232 pilgrims collected their Compostela, which meant a historic high, a number that continues to grow and confirms the strength of the Camino de Santiago as the main tourist and cultural resource of our community.
The agreement includes various initiatives related to the Pilgrim’s International Center for Pilgrims in Santiago de Compostela, such as the reinforcement of their material and personnel for greater attention and information to pilgrims, or the transfer of a place in their facilities for use Of Renfe.
Likewise, Turismo de Galicia is committed to collaborate, through this agreement, in activities that promote the Cathedral of Santiago related to the Jacobean routes, such as the Christian Reception Congress, as well as the edition of magazines or publications.
