As recorded by the Survey of Tourist Occupation Extra Hotel by INE, which includes the results of occupation of rural tourism accommodation, hostels, campsites and tourist apartments, June was a good month for both the rural tourism and the Galician tourist apartments. Tourist apartments experienced during June increased 103% in the number of travelers staying, to 15,335 while overnight stays increased by 55.88% to 38,762, of which 29,220 were made by resident travelers in Spain. The average stay was 2.53 days.

In the case of travelers staying in Galician rural tourism, improve the figures compared to June last year, growing 21%, most from the rest of the state. In total there were 21.293 travelers who opted for this type of accommodation while overnights were 36,867, 44% more than in 2015, with an average stay of 1.73 days.

The average occupancy rate was 17.87% although it reached peaks of more than 30% in weekend. As for prices, they experienced a slight increase of 0.87 points below the national average increase of 2.34 points.

Hostels and campsites down

It continues, however, the decline in campsites and hostels, which went from 30,344 in 2015 to 29,657 this year, 2.26% less although overnight stays and Meida stay of 3.2 days remained.
Similarly, travelers staying in hostels fell during the month of June 1, 27% to 582, all residents in Spain. Overnight stays slightly below, they stood at 1,735 and the average stay was 2.98 days.

Nationally, the overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation (apartments, campsites, rural tourism and shelters) exceeded 11.6 million in June, representing a 11.7% increase over the same month last year. In the year to date figures also improved, with an increase of 10.7% over the first six months of 2015.
