Galicia will once again be part of the ‘La Vuelta’route in its 2025 edition with three stages that will strengthen the link between sport and tourism promotion. The region will host the iconic cycling event between September 7 and 10.
One of the highlights will be the start, for the first time, from O Barco de Valdeorras, in the province of Ourense. Stage 17 will begin there, taking the peloton to Alto de El Morredero, in Ponferrada. This stage will mark the conclusion of La Vuelta’s journey through Galicia, reinforcing the region’s reputation as a tourist and sports destination.
The competition will previously cross Galician territory with two other stages: on September 7, from Asturias to Monforte de Lemos, and on September 9, with a route between Poio and Mos, finishing at Castro de Herville. These stages not only traverse different Galician landscapes but also connect with activities such as nature tourism, cycling tourism, and food and wine tourism.
During the official presentation on July 23, the Director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Merelles, emphasized the strategic value of sporting events as a promotional tool. He also noted that ‘La Vuelta’ has a global media impact, with more than 17 million television viewers, 23 million visits to its official website, and a presence in more than 180 countries.
