Galicia consolidates its position as the seventh most visited destination by Spaniards at the start of 2025

  • In the first quarter of the year, the region received nearly 1.5 million trips from residents of Spain.

Galicia closed the first quarter of 2025 as the seventh most popular tourist destination for Spanish travelers, according to the latest data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE). Between January and March, the region received nearly 1.5 million trips from other parts of Spain, representing 4.3% of the national total.

This volume of trips translated into nearly five million overnight stays, with an average stay slightly shorter than that of the country as a whole: 3.3 nights compared to the national average of 3.6. On an economic level, tourists left a total of €308.8 million in Galicia, with an average expenditure per traveler of €207 and a daily expenditure of €63.

At the same time, Galician residents also traveled intensively during the first months of the year, making 1.6 million trips. The average length of these trips was similar to that of visitors, and total spending amounted to €485.5 million, with an average of €302 per person and €91 per day.

These data confirm both Galicia’s relevance on the national tourism map and the dynamism of Galicians themselves when it comes to travel.
