Galicia exceeds the national average in growth of travelers staying in hotels and guesthouses in February

  • The growth in this indicator stands at 1.7%, compared to 0.4% for the country as a whole.

Data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) confirm that Galicia continues its upward trend in the hotel sector. In February, the number of travelers staying in hotels and guesthouses grew by 1.7% compared to the same month last year, exceeding the 0.4% recorded for Spain as a whole.

In total, 207,958 people stayed in these establishments, accumulating 361,675 overnight stays, marking a historic record for a month of February in Galicia. This growth reinforces the consolidation of the tourism sector in the region, whose overall data will be completed in the coming days with those for other types of accommodation.

Domestic tourism continues to be the main driver of the sector, accounting for 82% of hotel nights, with a significant share of travelers from other autonomous communities, who account for 47% of the total. Domestic tourism, corresponding to residents of Galicia, reached 35%, while the remaining 18% corresponded to international visitors.

This dynamism was also reflected in the sector’s profitability, which in February recorded total revenues of €14 million, 1.2% more than in 2024. In particular, the domestic market experienced growth of 4%, consolidating its key role in the evolution of Galician tourism.
