The Cluster reinforces the international promotion of the Galicia destination

  • On July 16, Santiago hosted the General Assembly of the Cluster in which the actions carried out in 2023 were reviewed and those planned for this year were reported.

Reinforcing internationalization is one of the priority objectives of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, a path that began in 2022 and has been promoted in 2023. Last year, the commitment to present the Galicia destination in international markets translated into participation in all the international fairs relevant to the sector: the BTL Lisbon, the ITB in Berlin, the WTM in London, the Incontri Rimini in Italy and the Imex in Frankfurt. To this we must add other promotional actions and workshops in Dublin, Warsaw, Mexico and Chicago, in addition to a reverse mission from the United States and Canada, organized by Turespaña in the Balearic Islands.

 

This international promotion was complemented by intense activity at the national level with the participation of the Cluster in the main national fairs; Fitur 2023, Vinis Terrae 2023, Turexpo Galicia, Foro MICE, Fairway 2023 and IBTM World 2023, in addition to other events such as workshops in Madrid and Malaga.

 

These data are part of the balance of actions presented on Tuesday, July 16, at the General Assembly of the Cluster held in Santiago, in which representatives of entities, consortia and provincial associations representing more than 95% of the tourism industry of Galicia, and in which the strategic lines of 2024 were also advanced.

 

Among the initiatives launched last year is the accommodation data monitoring system (SIMADA), with which the Cluster seeks to improve marketing through a collaborative system. The objective is that the tool, which is in the early stages of implementation, offers first-hand information on the reservations and prices of the different accommodation establishments in order to make the best decisions in the business field (opening of establishments or available capacity, contracting , provisioning, pricing, etc.) in order to increase the profitability of the establishments participating in the program.

 

The development of initiatives such as “Xacobeo the axes of action of the Galician Tourism Cluster in the last year. Some activities to which are added advice to companies or the work of dissemination and implementation of the Q for quality. In 2023, 24 new certifications were served and 11 companies in the process of monitoring or renewal were provided.

 

Furthermore, the beginning of the development of the future Galician Tourism Strategy 2030, in collaboration with the Axencia Turismo de Galicia, involved the development of an active participation process of listening to the main agents of the sector with which an initial diagnosis was prepared. on which to address the new roadmap for tourism in Galicia.

 

Promotion measures, dissemination of the Q for Quality and advice for its implementation were other actions carried out by the Cluster during 2023.

 

The development of the “rÍAS Baixas: The path of algorithms” conference, thanks to an agreement with the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, was another of the notable activities of last year, whose objective was to bring disruptive technologies closer to the tourism sector.

 

During this year, the Cluster will continue to focus its efforts on the promotion, dissemination and marketing of Destination Galicia, betting on internationalization, and will continue to offer advice for the implementation of the Q for quality and the S for sustainability to associated companies. In addition, progress will be made in the preparation of the Galician Tourism Strategy 2030.
