Segittur calls for aid for the implementation of technological platforms in Smart Tourist Destinations

  • The objective is to develop an Intelligent Destination Platform (PID) that facilitates interoperability between public and private services intended for tourists.

On June 12, 2024, Segittur announced a new call for aid to deploy technological platforms and digital solutions in tourist destinations belonging to the Smart Tourist Destinations Network (DTI Network). These grants, which have a budget of 96 million euros, are intended to improve the management of tourist destinations and modernize the sector through the adoption of advanced digital technologies.

The main objective is to develop an Intelligent Destination Platform (PID) that facilitates interoperability between public and private services intended for tourists. This initiative will be complemented with a Tourism Intelligence System and various actions that will reinforce the DTI Network. In addition, the aim is to support digital solutions based on artificial intelligence and other innovative technologies in tourism companies, as well as finance the development of industrial data spaces and promote digital innovation in the sector.

The results of this initiative will benefit the tourist destinations that are members of the DTI Network, the business sector, connected tourists and the digital technology sector. Among the main challenges that are expected to be addressed are the management of connected tourists throughout their trip, local tourism public management, strengthening the destination’s capabilities and responding to health crises or other emergencies.

The total budget is distributed into three specific subsidies: 33,173,055.28 euros for Provincial Councils, Cabildos and Island Councils; 57,173,055.28 euros for Municipalities, regions, associations and other local entities; and 6,000,000 euros for uniprovincial Autonomous Communities and the Foral Community of Navarra. Each project may receive funding of 100% of its budget, with a maximum of 6 million euros per project.

Applications must be submitted through the electronic headquarters of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism before July 1, 2024.
