The Xunta extends until the end of May the deadline for applying for air for energy efficiency actions in tourist accommodations

  • The submission period, which ended at the beginning of May, will be extended until the 29th.
  • The aid is aimed at small and medium-sized companies that own tourist accommodation buildings.

The Xunta de Galicia once again extends the deadline to request its aid for energy efficiency actions in Galician tourist accommodation. The deadline for applications for this line of subsidies has already been extended on the first occasion until the beginning of May. With this new extension, interested businessmen will be able to formalize their request until Monday, May 29, at 11:59 p.m.

This concession, under a non-competitive competition regime, has a budget of 7.8 million euros. It can be requested, through the electronic headquarters of the Xunta, by small and medium-sized companies that own buildings whose purpose is be the tourist accommodation: hotels, guesthouses, rural tourism establishments, tourist lodges and tourist apartments.

Beneficiaries may receive up to 90% of the investment made, with a maximum of 150,000 euros. In addition, these actions must include a 30% reduction in the consumption of non-renewable primary energy with respect to the starting situation, improving at least one letter on the carbon dioxide emissions scale, unless the building already has a energy rating A.

If you are interested in improving the efficiency and energy savings of your tourist accommodation, some of the actions that you can carry out through this grant are improving the energy efficiency of the thermal envelope; improving energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in thermal installations for heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation and domestic hot water; including the installation of hot and cold networks powered by renewable energy sources and/or waste heat for multi-building resorts; as well as improving the energy efficiency of lighting installations.

Last January, Galicia Tourism organized a webinar focused on these aids, the requirements and the procedures to request them. The event was attended by several speakers, including the president of the Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal. You can view the event through the Galician Tourism YouTube channel.
