Our restaurants show off their talent at the Michelin Guide and De Tapas por Galicia awards ceremony

A total of 54 establishments were distinguished by the popular publication during the event held in A Coruña.

 

The Paprica restaurant and the ArteSana Gastrobar won the awards of the jury and the public in the Showcooking contest that took place in Santiago de Compostela.

 

Cesáreo Pardal represented the Galicia Tourism Cluster in both events.

 

The Galician catering sector showed again its muscle and talent in the two events held in Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña in which the Galicia Tourism Cluster also participated actively represented by the president, Cesáreo Pardal.

 

The first of the two events took place in Santiago de Compostela on Tuesday 21 at the initiative of the Galicia Tourism Agency, which brought together seven chefs representing the seven Galician cities to compete for the award for the best pincho. Sheila Martínez from Roots restaurant (A Coruña) with “Gyoza de chocos en su tinta”; Álex M. Bacelo and Mar Lago from BaceLo (Ferrol) with “bocado de aldea”; Beatriz Alcalá from La Zapatería del Abuelo (Ourense) with “CANTA Castaña”; Ana Vilar from Cervexaría Leria (Vigo) with “Xema na Fraga”; Rubén González from El Cafetín(Pontevedra) with “Vacalao Do cru ao cocinao”; Álvaro Villasante of Paprica (Lugo) with “Bonito, morrón, cebola e paixón” and Álvaro Pérez of ArteSana Gastrobar (Santiago de Compostela) with “Queixo” were the seven finalists of the seventh Tapas por Galicia Showcooking Gala, in which Cesáreo Pardal was part of the professional jury in charge of tasting and evaluating each of these preparations.

 

The prize of the jury of this hard-fought and delicious contest went to Álvaro Villasante, from Paprica, while the public chose the dish prepared by Álvaro Pérez, from ArteSana Gastrobar.

 

A day later, on Wednesday 22, A Coruña hosted an event organized to present the restaurants recommended in the latest edition of the Michelin Guide with their identification plaques. 32 establishments from A Coruña, 5 from Lugo, 1 from Ourense and 16 from Pontevedra were recognized during the gala sponsored by Royal Bliss, the range of premium mixers of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Iberia, and in which the president of the Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, took the floor to claim the importance of the hospitality industry and the tourism sector in general.

 

The chef Pepe Vieira, who has just received his second Michelin star and who collaborates with the Cluster through initiatives such as the Galicia Destino Sostible Product Club, also participated in the event. Likewise, Jesús Picallo, vice-president of the Cluster, took the stage to collect the distinction given to one of its establishments, the restaurant O Semáforo, integrated in the hotel fisterrán, which is also part of Galicia Destino Sostible.
