The deadlines for two postcovid grants for the hotel and catering industry have been extended until 17 December

The beneficiary establishments have one more week to justify the execution of their equipment and digitalisation projects.

The heads of the hotel and catering establishments that benefited from two lines of subsidies opened by the Galicia Tourism Agency to deal with the consequences of the covid pandemic will have several days more to complete the necessary procedures to be able to collect their aid. This was published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) on Friday 10 December. This was precisely the date that marked the end of the initial deadline, which has now been extended to December 17th.

The first of the two lines of aid is aimed at making investments in postcovid equipment and is 100% funded by the European Union within the framework of the Rect-EU axis of the Feder Galicia 2014-2020 programme. This call is endowed with a total of 6 million euros and each beneficiary receives up to a maximum of 50,000 euros, which must be used to finance 90 % of the cost of acquiring home automation systems for distance control, door opening, air conditioning, etc.; automatic check-in systems, signage and new sanitation equipment, among others.

The second line of subsidies is aimed at promoting digitalisation and digital marketing and also has a total budget of 6 million euros from the Xunta’s budget. Each beneficiary was eligible for a maximum of 15,000 euros to finance 100% of the cost of installing or integrating Property Management Systems and Customer Relationship Management, as well as market and satisfaction studies, online advertising, advertising campaigns with prescribers, corporate websites, hardware acquisition, telework management systems and other technological equipment.

The deadline to apply for the grants finished over a month ago, and in both cases the beneficiaries had until 10 December to present the documentation accrediting the implementation of the project. But according to the resolutions published in the DOG “the large number of applications submitted and given the proximity of the deadline for justification established in the resolution of the call, it is considered necessary to extend the prazo (…) until 17 December 2021”.
