Nava Castro collected in Madrid the award given to the campaign organised by the Xunta with the support of the Cluster.
The covid pandemic has delayed the presentation of the awards granted during the last edition of Fitur, the international tourism fair held every year in Madrid, but finally it has been possible to celebrate the event in which has been awarded the campaign Elixe Galicia (Choose Galicia) launched in 2020 by the Xunta with the support of the Clúster Turismo de Galicia to encourage domestic tourism. The recognition to Elixe Galicia was awarded by Fitur and Aire Libre magazine in the category of best active tourism product.
The awards ceremony was held in recent days in the Spanish capital with the presence of the director of the Galician Tourism Agency, Nava Castro, who was in charge of collecting the award and highlighting the good results obtained by Elixe Galicia. Thus, this programme composed of package tours aimed at young people under 30 years old, families and pensioners over 55 has allowed to market in its two editions (2020 and 2021) a total of 4,300 places and generate a direct injection in the tourism sector of more than one million euros.
The programme will remain open until next November. Historical heritage and culture routes; nature and mountain routes; holidays in coastal areas and stays in spas are the four types of tourist packages offered by Elixe Galicia. Those interested in enjoying any of them should go to a travel agency to formalise their registration.
