Hours before the Government published in the BOE the order of closure of tourist accommodation throughout the territory, the Xunta de Galicia maintained contacts with the sector to ensure the proper development of this closure. Thus, the Department of Culture and Tourism already intensified contact with the registered establishments and the Operational Coordination Centre approved a series of accompanying measures.
The Xunta de Galicia will set up, according to needs, temporary accommodation establishments on duty in each of the seven Galician cities for people who, due to different circumstances, both personal and work, cannot return to their homes or places of origin within the established period. Thus, in particular, the appropriate decisions will be taken to avoid situations of possible distress of people who are housed in any type of accommodation, both hotel and non-hotel.
The Xunta has already transferred the need for these on-call establishments to provide basic care services to the people accommodated, guaranteeing the prevention measures determined by the health authorities. Likewise, it points out that the precise transfers must be governed at all times by the mobility rules currently in force. For foreign persons in transit, appropriate channels should be established to facilitate the actions of the State administration authorities responsible for repatriation.
These measures were sent to the Government Delegation in Galicia, which was asked for information on the daily accommodation records. As a reinforcement, and with the aim of working as far in advance as possible, the Xunta contacted the establishments registered in the Register of Tourist Companies and Activities (REAT) of the Autonomous Community, in permanent communication with the Galician Tourism Cluster and with the sector and provincial representatives.
