More than half a thousand Galician tourist companies have participated throughout 2019 in some of the actions launched by the Galician Tourism Cluster, which has been present in more than 1600 meetings of different kinds throughout these twelve months. These are just some of the figures that the annual balance sheet of the Galician Tourism Cluster (CTG) shows for this year’s work in the consolidation of a modern, profitable, professional and quality Galician tourism sector, as established in its action principles.
“Our objective during this year has continued to be to work so that the tourism sector has new windows of promotion, helping it to compete in the global market and promoting actions that improve the creation, commercialization and promotion of differentiated tourism products that help us to build a tourism destination of excellence,” explained the president of the Tourism Cluster of Galicia, Cesáreo Pardal, who highlighted the effort of the businessmen in participating in the actions that were proposed throughout this year.
Own actions and participation in fairs
During 2019 the CTG has been present in a total of 10 national and international professional fairs: FITUR, FAIRWAY, TUREXPO, INTUR, IBTM, ITB, WTM, TTG Rimini, ASTA or the Lorient Interceltic Festival, in many of which it had its own promotional space while in others it shared space with other entities and administrations, with which it has maintained the public-private collaboration that has always characterized the actions of the Cluster since its creation.
During this time, the CTG has also promoted the celebration of 9 workshops, doubling the commitment with respect to previous editions. The destinations chosen this year were Malaga, Seville, Lisbon, Glasgow, Madrid, Santiago, A Coruña, Oporto and Bilbao, in which the tourist offer was presented as a whole or in a segmented way, grouped by theme (MICE, active destination or wine tourism), without forgetting the celebration of two familiarization trips, one oriented to the congress and incentive sector and the other to the Brazilian tour operator. As for the number of attendees who have participated in the various actions of the Cluster, we can highlight that a total of 44 companies took part in the national workshops and 52 companies in the international ones, while 80 associated to the CTG were involved in the various projects promoted by the Cluster during this 2019.
Workshops and trade missions
In addition to the recent conference on sustainability, held this month of December, in which more than a hundred professionals participated, those responsible for the Cluster have participated in various conferences, meetings and presentations, both in Galicia and Portugal (Braga) or in missions such as those of New York-Miami promoted by the Xunta.
Finally, in the annual balance of the Tourism Cluster of Galicia, it is worth mentioning the celebration of the first edition of the Galicia Tourism Awards in a gala attended by more than 500 people, as well as the promotion of quality tourism through the renewal or new certification of companies under the Q for Quality seals, which obtained 23 new establishments, making a total of 291 companies in our community.
