The rural ‘Outono gastronómico’ closes edition with almost 5,000 participants

The ‘Outono gastronómico en turismo rural’, organized by the Consellería de Cultura e Turismpo, has closed its 12th edition with the participation of 4820 people, who opted for this combination of gastronomic experiences with the stay in rural establishments. With this balance, this tourism proposal was chosen by more than 64,000 people, who participated as a couple, family or friends in the 12 years it has been underway.

This year’s edition has had 86 rural houses in the four provinces, of which 25 were establishments in the province of Pontevedra, 23 in A Coruña, 19 in Ourense and 19 in Lugo. With a rating of 4.7 out of 5, those responsible for these businesses value their experience as very satisfactory and nine out of ten would repeat in future campaigns to help attract visitors outside the high season, as reported by the Xunta in a statement.

This year’s campaign has closed with estimated economic results that exceeded 330,000 euros in revenue for all participating establishments. The ‘Outono Gastronómico en Turismo Rural’ has been developed between the months of September and December, with two different menus designed specifically.

In addition to the high participation of the last edition, has also highlighted the increase in its impact on the Internet and social networks, with an increase of 30% over the previous campaign. According to data from the Xunta, this initiative is contributing to advance in the deseasonalization of the destination, which is working hand in hand with the Tourism Strategy Galicia 2020. The latest data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) reveal that only in November this tourist segment experienced an increase in the number of travelers of 13.6%.
