The County Council of Pontevedra has launched a new route to discover the historical heritage of the Rías Baixas and to seasonalize tourism: Madruga Route, an initiative framed within the axis of promotion of the Rías Baixas Destination “We are stories” to make known that the province of Pontevedra allows us to live many stories, in this case, related to the “fortified heritage”.
The route goes through fortifications and their remains of the municipalities of Soutomaior (O Castelo), which will reopen its doors after the renovations on May 11: Crecente (Torre de Fornelos), Mondariz (Castelo de Sobroso), Salvaterra de Miño (O Castelo), Tui (El casco viejo), Baiona (A Fortaleza de Monte Boi), Vigo (El casco viejo), Sanxenxo (A Torre da Lanzada) and Cambados (Torre de San Sadurniño), all of them visitable and accessible 365 days a year, in which Pedro Madruga and the Sotomayor family left their mark.
The new route of Pedro Madruga will be part of the tourism promotion campaigns of the Deputación de Pontevedra, distributing leaflets through the tourist offices as well as an informative video, which will also be available on institutional websites and social networks, with all the fortifications that make up the route.
