The Cluster promotes together with Galicia MICE, OPC Galicia and the Xunta de Galicia a fam trip to promote congress tourism in Galicia

Ten specialised companies are visiting A Coruña, Santiago and Vigo to get to know their facilities, resources and services.

Representatives of a dozen national companies specialising in the congress tourism sector are currently taking part in a fam trip around Galicia to get to know the facilities, services and resources available in the region to host this type of event. The trip, promoted by the Galicia Tourism Cluster through Galicia MICE and with the collaboration of the Xunta de Galicia and the Association of Professional Conference Organisers of Galicia (OPC Galicia), is taking place in the cities of A Coruña, Santiago and Vigo with the aim of promoting Galicia’s potential as an ideal destination for tourism for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions, known as MICE tourism.

The first stop of this fam trip was on Monday at the Exhibition and Congress Centre of A Coruña, where a workshop took place in which the representatives of the national companies and the heads of ten Galician companies had the opportunity to establish links, create synergies and lay the foundations for long-term collaboration.

The meeting was attended by the president of the Galician Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal; the president of OPC Galicia, Ana Trevisani, and the director of Galician Tourism, Nava Castro, who highlighted the importance of the congress tourism sector “for its capacity to deseasonalise and to promote high added value tourism, which is fundamental for decentralising the tourist offer beyond the most usual destinations”. Castro also explained that to help this sector the Xunta has enabled this year a line of aid endowed with 200,000 euros, in addition to the 500,000 euros earmarked for the same purpose last year.
