International tourism drives reservations in Spanish hotels, with a notable increase of 8% compared to the previous year, according to the study ‘Hotel Booking Trends by SiteMinder – Summer 2024 Edition’. International travelers will represent 68% of total reservations, highlighting significant growth in the hotel sector.

The average daily rate (ADR) in hotel establishments has seen an increase of 6%, reaching 248 euros, compared to 234 euros last summer. Although this figure is slightly lower than the European average of 8%, it reflects a positive trend in the sector. Regarding the length of stays, an average of 3.16 nights is expected, a small decrease compared to the 3.19 nights recorded the previous year.

The report also reveals that travelers have begun to book their stays further in advance. The average term of reserves has increased from 134 days in 2023 to 140 days this year, aligning with the northern hemisphere average. This increase in booking anticipation underlines the growing confidence and demand in the national tourism sector.

Álvaro Rubio, director of SiteMinder in Spain, highlighted that these data anticipate a promising summer for the Spanish hotel sector. “After the record summer of 2023, the data indicates that we are on track for another great summer for the accommodation sector in Spain,” said Rubio. “Bookings have been made approximately a week earlier, and international check-ins, led by travelers from the UK, France and Germany, are outperforming last year’s results.”

With the increase in the average daily rate, advance reservations and the increase in international travelers, the Spanish hotel sector is preparing for a summer full of opportunities and growth.
