The president of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo González Pardal, held an institutional meeting with the president of the Ourense Provincial Council, Luis Menor, at the Pazo Provincial. The aim was to continue advancing the coordination and cooperation between both entities as part of a joint strategy to consolidate tourism as a key economic driver for the province and the region.
During the meeting, both parties analyzed the current state of the tourism sector in Galicia and Ourense, highlighting its growing contribution to the Galician economy, accounting for 12% of the region’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and attracting over 8 million travelers in 2024. These figures, as noted by Cesáreo González, “reaffirm the Cluster’s role as a strategic tool in the planning, promotion, and development of Galician tourism.”
As a result of the meeting, both institutions agreed to strengthen existing lines of cooperation, particularly in the field of tourism promotion. The focus will be on showcasing the unique features of the province of Ourense and the potential of the high-speed rail connection as a key factor in attracting new visitors.
The Galicia Tourism Cluster currently represents over 7,500 companies through 64 professional tourism associations across the Galician territory, positioning itself as the leading entity for public-private cooperation in the tourism sector.
