Turismo de Galicia

With the aim of offering an image of a destination that seeks specialization and innovates in the creation of new tourism products, the first day of the 39th edition of Fitur, the International Tourism Fair held in Madrid and served to advance in the presentation of this year’s novelties for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

It highlights among them, “A walk of history and life”, fruit of the work carried out in the European Year of Cultural Heritage and that delves into the historic centres of the seven Galician cities in a dynamic and lively project in which work continues because, as advanced Roman Rodriguez, the aim is to add other historical centres of interest. During the day was also presented the first Smart Way-Spanish Network: the Route of the Phoenicians in the Atlantic-Las Cassitérides, a new itinerary that, taking advantage of the success of the coastal Minicruceiros by the estuaries of Galicia that already operate in the Rías Baixas, will allow travelers to approach by sea to much of the Phoenician vestiges that are still preserved in Galicia and apply augmented reality techniques to know them.

Another of the great protagonists of this first day was the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago and the preparations for the Xacobeo 2021 through several presentations in which the French Way was delved into as the outstanding itinerary in 2019, the projects and actions that will fill Galicia with culture and life during Xacobeo 21 and the importance of making this event a universal and participative celebration as well as accessibility on the Camino de Santiago and the work of Galicia to ensure that the pilgrimage is an inclusive experience, with a work embodied in the Plan for accessibility to tourism in Galicia and the Camino de Santiago and with the collaboration of entities such as ONCE.

Consolidated projects and World Heritage nominations
The Galician candidatures for World Heritage of UNESCO, Cíes-Islas Atlánticas, Ribeira Sacra and Ciudad de Ferrol: Puerto de la Ilustración had an outstanding protagonism in this first day in which there was also space for consolidated products such as the Camellia Route, wine tourism through the program Walking among vineyards or unique trees of Galicia.

The new products designed by the Consellería de Cultura y Turismo will continue to be presented at the Galician stand until Friday. This is a kind of tourism that allows you to enjoy the Community without haste, while at the same time helping to value and take care of the multiple landscape, cultural and heritage resources of the Community.
