The Galician regional government, through the department of Economy, Employment and Industry, has signed an agreement with the Mineral and Thermal Water Cluster amounting to 60,000 euros that will allow the implementation of a series of actions to promote the internationalization of this sector. The agreement, signed between the owner of the Department, Francisco Conde, and the President of the Cluster, Antonio Garaloces, includes the implementation of two actions in which innovation will play a strategic role.

Thus, the cluster, with the collaboration of the Xunta, create and implement the brand Auga Galicia, a label that identifies the product quality contributing to its differentiation and can be used by all entities mineral water bottling companies -11 in total and by the 21 existing Galician spas.
The second initiative sepondrán up between the two institutions will be the application development for mobile phone, Terras da Auga, through the Android operating system that will be free access to the public and which may consult the location of the mineral springs and spas, as well as the perimeters of protection of existing aquifers in Galicia, as has already been occurring through the IOS system, which will also be updated.

The aim of these actions is to bet on the positioning of the companies in the sector in major markets, promoting the image of quality, sustainability and innovation in the sector internationally. In this sense, Conde said, “is a collaboration for the sector remains a benchmark of our heritage, sega creating jobs and growing towards internationalization” while emphasizing the strategic importance of Galician thermal sector for its cultural value and heritage and its contribution to tourism and economic development of Galicia.

For his part, President of the cluster Thermal stressed the importance of the collaboration of the Department of Industry to ensure the protection of spaces by running the hot springs and avoid contamination.
