From the end of June to September, the Vive o Camiño performing arts programme will offer more than 40 free activities aimed at all audiences, which will be held in the Galician town halls of the Portuguese Way and the Portuguese Coastal Way. With them, Tourism of Galicia, promoter of the initiative, seeks to fill with music and theatre the territory of the itinerary of the Portuguese Way and the Portuguese by the Coast, the two routes to which the Galician Government dedicates its efforts in 2018, as part of the schedule of the Master Plan of the Way.

In total, 44 free activities will be programmed, including storytelling and musical performances by different artists, accompanied by an informative exhibition on both the Portuguese Way and the Portuguese Coastal Way.

The first stop of `Vive o Camiño’ will be next Monday, 25th June, in the town hall of A Guarda in Pontevedra, and the last one, 14th September, in the municipality of Ames in A Coruña. The offer will be distributed by O Rosal, Oia, O Porriño, Nigrán, Pontevedra, Baiona, Mos, Valga, Vigo, Redondela, Soutomaior, Vilaboa, Barro, Caldas de Reis, Tui, Portas, Pontecesures, Padrón, Rois, Dodro and Teo.
The programme includes a particular proposal of stories and histories of the trees of the Portuguese Way, which will raise awareness of the importance of protecting the forest heritage of the Jacobean route, by Ángel Moure. A show that will be accompanied in some towns by live music animation by Servando Barreiro.
In addition, during’Vive o Camiño’, the new show by Magín Blanco will be presented and will complete the offer for singer Silvia Penide, with her show Femenino Plural, and Najla Shami, with Caminos de culturas, accompanied by guitarist and, in some cases, percussion, to make original mixes between Galician music and other African, Brazilian and even jazz sounds.
In addition, during this year, both itineraries will be equipped and signposted with an investment of 2.5 million euros, with which the aim is to strengthen the capacity to receive, signpost and promote these Xacobean routes.
