The fair of the Way of Saint James will not miss its appointment this year. Finally, the fourth edition of Fairway will be held at the Palacio de Congresos de Santiago from 8th to 10th November 2020, as announced by the directors of the event, Manuel Oreiro, Ana Trevisani and Tono Mugico at the presentation in which they have been supported by Xacobeo 2021 in the person of its commissioner, Cecilia Pereira, Antonio Leira, Deputy for Economy and Finance of the Provincial Council of A Coruña and Gumersindo Guinarte, Councillor for Tourism of the Council of Santiago. The three institutions will support this event, which is key to the launch of Xacobeo 21, which will be one of the next major milestones for Galicia in terms of tourism and culture.

Fairway has adapted to the “new normality” by applying the health recommendations to its format and therefore, reinforcing safety protocols in terms of capacity, cleaning, disinfection and prevention. In the case of the part dedicated to business, Manuel Oreiro, co-director, pointed out that “the format will be much more international, redirecting contacts to a digital environment that will improve the workshop’s meeting ratio and have a greater presence of intermediaries from all over the world”. Thus, he explained that they will offer “a special set so that those who come to Fairway can telework with a fast and secure connection through our multi-customer platform, with the aim that the business fabric of the Way can have both non-presential meetings and the usual ones”, but also that “telematic meetings with hosted buyers from countries that have some limitation in terms of travel and want to be present at the event will be facilitated”.

On the other hand, “the congress, the debate tables and the training part will revolve around sustainability, the Covid-19 and a Way more adjusted to the future that will soon be present. To this end, we are maintaining balanced formats between the physical and digital, but with a greater commitment to share knowledge, experiences and draw practical conclusions for those of us who are on the front line of the Way of Saint James,” said Tono Mugico, co-director. He also explained that in this new edition, Fairway will continue to “bet on training as a wink to the tourism sector, with top-level speakers who will join in as another incentive to take an interest in the event”.

Ana Trevisani, co-director, pointed out that “all the measures agreed upon by the main State and Community bodies for the MICE sector will be reflected in an exemplary manner in the Fairway, so that those attending will have the absolute guarantee that both Santiago and the Fairway will be a safe and Covid Free destination and event”. The co-director also highlighted the suitability of setting up this edition of the Fairway in spite of the adverse situation, for its “usefulness as a friendly space that generates optimism and confidence and that can help to reactivate the sector”.

Finally, the organization of Fairway wanted to thank “the presence of the local, provincial and autonomous administration as it is a faithful reflection of the spirit of the Way and the Fairway and a message for the sector of the Way: that there is no other way than to go all together to overcome this situation as soon as possible”.
