The Galician Family Destination Programme, promoted by the Galician Tourism Cluster in collaboration with the Consortium of Tourist Entrepreneurs of Sanxenxo (CETS), the Galician Network of Tourist Hostels Association (AGALBER), Viajes Fisterra S. L. U. and Hotel Bahia de Vigo S. A. delivered this morning in the City of Culture in Santiago the first accreditations to companies that have successfully joined this initiative, aimed at grouping together the specialized offer in the family segment in Galicia.
A total of 27 companies, including accommodation, catering, travel agencies and complementary activities, collected a plaque that they will be able to place outside their establishment and that accredits them as members of this project launched last year for the valorization of this market segment for Galicia. Specifically, there have been 19 lodgings, 5 companies of complementary activities, two travel agencies and one restaurant, the first to have joined the program, which allows them to upload their proposals and offers especially aimed at families who choose Galicia as a tourist destination.
The event, which was attended by the director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, also served to take stock of this second year of operation of the seal, which has a website, official app and presence in social networks, which allows greater dissemination of the new developments that are arising around family tourism. In this sense, the president of the Galician Tourism Cluster, Francisco González, stressed precisely the importance of developing this type of initiatives, which are born with the aim of serving as a guarantee for both customers and the sector, contributing to the loyalty of the target public of this project. For her part, the director of Tourism of Galicia thanked the implementation of this project that demonstrates the commitment of the sector for quality and specialization,”this type of initiatives that already group more than 3000 beds in specialized lodgings in this market segment, help us to be more competitive and continue growing,” he said.
And it is that Galicia has a lot of potential as a tourist destination for families, a very interesting visitor profile for the characteristics of tourism that is developing in our territory as they are travelers who consume a wide range of products and services interconnected with each other (accommodation, restaurants, active tourism, theme parks, etc.), generally loyal and exercise good prescribers, registering stays above average and looking for destinations adapted to the needs of all members of the group.
According to the market study of Tourism Consumption Guidelines for Families, carried out by the Spanish Federation of Large Families, Galicia ranks as the fourth Spanish autonomous community preferred by families for their travel during the summer season, with families spending a total of 15,870 million euros per year in Spain.
