The combination of rural tourism and gastronomy was chosen by more than 59,000 people in the 11 years of this initiative promoted by Turismo de Galicia.

The 11th edition of Outono Gastronómico closed with the participation of more than 2500 people who opted for the combination of gastronomic experiences with the stay in Galician rural houses. As a couple, in family or with friends, the initiative promoted by Turismo de Galicia was chosen by more than 59,200 people in the 11 years since the Gastronomic Autumn has been running.
This year’s edition was attended by nearly 90 rural houses from the four provinces, of which 26 establishments were in Pontevedra province, 22 in A Coruña, 21 in Ourense and 20 in Lugo. With a score of 4.7 out of five, the managers of Galician establishments rate their experience very satisfactory and 9 out of ten would repeat in coming campaigns to help attract visitors out of high season.
This touristic proposal combines restaurants and lodging with attractive modalities and prices to favor the rural tourism in Galicia where it is gathered about half of the establishments of rural tourism with Q of Quality that there is in Spain: 35 of 81. Between the months of September and December, the participants offered two different menus designed specifically for Gastronomic Autumn, with traditional cuisine following the philosophy of kilometer 0, to promote local products. The following options were proposed: Gastronomic Autumn Menu without an overnight stay, Gastronomic Autumn Package for one night, Gastronomic Autumn Weekend for two nights and Gastronomic Autumn Family Weekend for two nights with children.
4% growth in rural tourism
Initiatives such as these are contributing to the fact that Galician tourism is growing more intensely in the months outside the traditional high season, contributing to deepen the seasonality in which we work hand in hand with the Tourism Strategy of Galicia 2020, the document prepared between the Xunta and the sector to accompany the growth of visitors that Galicia is living. This roadmap is also bearing fruit in rural tourism, as in the first ten months of this year grew more than 4%, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE).
